I'm back!

I'm going to start couponing again. After Walgreens changed their rewards program, it just sort of put me off couponing altogether. However, my stockpile of bath and beauty is starting to dwindle, so I need to start couponing again :) I'm going to start collecting the inserts again and slowly get back into the rhythm of shopping again. However I do have to say I've been buying certain things at Aldi...They're not that bad. Anyhoo...Thanks for looking, and keep checking back :>

Oh, hai there!

I haven't couponed in a while...Simply for the fact that I don't need to, for food at any rate.  However I'm going to try to start again, by couponing for bath and beauty items, shopping sales for meat and vegetables, and also trying to eat out less.

I spend an inordinate amount of money on fresh food, and we waste some of it because we end up eating out, and I really need to fix this!

No Newspapers!

Simply for the fact that I didn't have the time and/or inclination to purchase them this weekend, what with the parties and Rocky Horror and all that.

However I purchased inserts from http://wholecouponinserts.com/ for the second time today. I have to say the first time I purchased from them I was a bit leery -- but I did get the inserts in a timely manner, because they ship Priority mail. In my opinion the prices aren't bad either.

Didn't do much couponing for the party, but I did shop sales and I purchased all the ground beef I used from Costco. It wasn't the grass-fed beef (in fact, I don't think they carry it anymore -- sad face) but it was still very food. I still greatly over-bought for the simply fact that, as previously stated, people did not RSVP, and even with the people that stated they were indeed coming, some forgot and a good few of them had problems arise that day (one girl got into a car accident even! felt so bad for her).

I hadn't thrown a party since 1994 so I guess it's all good and was a learning experience lol.

Birthday

Well I'm 30 years old today -- and honestly, I don't feel like it. Shit, I don't even feel like an adult yet let alone 30 freaking years old.

Had two parties -- one at 4pm yesterday and then an "after" party for the Rocky Horror gang. I must admit I was slightly bummed. I bought SO much and spent a pretty penny on food and drink (including a keg of Woodchuck hard cider) and I think maybe 10 people showed up to the 4pm party and about 15 to the after Rocky party.

I invited roughly 60. I didn't plan food for that many people but at least 35 because I had 25 people who confirmed they'd come to the parties. For whatever reason just a lot of people weren't able to make it...But it wasn't such a bust I guess. Way better than the Halloween party in 8th grade -- only two people showed up.

So all in all I guess it was a success :) lol and I have TONS of taco meat and taco supplies for the future...

Birthday Party!

Well I'm about to get ready and go shopping...For my birthday party!

I've been collecting my coupons but I haven't needed anything -- even to stock up on and there have been no "freebies" so no cherry picking either, as it were.

My birthday is on Saturday and I'm turning the magical age of 30 years old. I SURE don't feel like it. Forever young and all that rot. I think when I turn 40, I'll turn back to being goth. Yeah, that'll show the world! lol

Anyhoo. Yes. I'm going to be searching for ground beef at reasonable prices, preferably 90%+ because I'm having a freaking taco bar for my party! Whoo!

Edited to add: I'm glad I mentioned "coupons" because it made me think of Register Rewards I had previously gotten from Walgreens. They expire today! Glad I'll be able to use them, I have $9.50 in RR's XD

Happy (belated) New Year!

Not much to report here other than I'm starting to coupon again. AND, I'm getting my little sister into the act. She's living on her own now although she isn't paying any rent or bills as she is staying at my dad's house in Indiana while he primarily lives in his condo downtown. Anyhoo, good times. I'm only buying a total of four newspapers a week (plus the one I get delivered). Two for the sister and three for me.

HOWEVER, I recently discovered a website where you can order whole inserts from! The website is http://www.wholecouponinserts.com I ordered 10 of this week's inserts so we'll see how fast they arrive and all that jazz. If there are problems, I paid via paypal so I can dispute if need be.

Other than that, I'm down to 147-ish pounds now! Still eating mostly "paleo" or primal.

Food & Forums

Soooo I'm upset at a forum I frequent. If I had male wobbly bits, I'd tell the lot of them to suck the left one. So instead I'll just curse a few select people with all the vehemence I can muster (in my own head). There is one particular rule that they don't allow you to put any references to your website (name of website and/or URL) if you have a link to it in your signature, anywhere else (in profiles, other fields, etc). Fine, whatever. Not that my coupon blog here could ever compete, but that's their rules.

However, I had "Uses: Money Saving Jutsu" in a different part of my profile, and I STILL got into trouble for it. Really? I don't see those words anywhere in the name of my website or the URL. Can we say "anal retentive"? It is almost like when a cashier makes up rules to go along with coupon redemption!

Anyhoo.

I haven't couponed in a while, and haven't even kept up with purchasing my inserts/newspapers on a weekly basis up until a few weeks ago. I just haven't needed anything, at least as far as health and beauty items go. However I will be starting up again though just to get my stockpile up to muster. I've finally run out of dog food but I plan on purchasing Iams for small/toy dogs, because my Pom really seems to like it. But I've ALSO been contemplating putting Johnnie on a form of Primal diet as well. All the dog food seems to be primarily made of wheat as the bulk of the kibble, and just like us, they were made to eat meat and other things. What amazes me is Johnnie will scoop up veggies or fruit that might accidentally fall to the floor during preparation. I don't know what is necessarily good for him but I think it is at least worth reading about.

I am happy to say I've lost at least 10 solid pounds from eating this way, in just a little over a month and my husband has lost about the same amount. I started calling how we eat Primal as opposed to Paleo. People just don't understand the word unless I explain it.

In a nutshell, it is this:

"I eat real food – fresh, natural food like meat, vegetables and fruit. I choose foods that are nutrient-dense, with lots of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, over foods that have more calories but less nutrition. And food quality is important – I’m careful about where my meat, seafood and eggs come from, and buy organic local produce as often as possible.

This is not a “diet” – I eat as much as I need to maintain strength, energy, activity levels and a healthy body weight. I aim for well-balanced nutrition, so I eat both animals and a significant amount of plants. I’m not lacking carbohydrates – I just get them from vegetables and fruits instead of bread, cereal or pasta. And my meals are probably higher in fat than you’d imagine, but fat is a healthy source of energy when it comes from high-quality foods like avocado, coconut and grass-fed beef.

Eating like this is ideal for maintaining a healthy metabolism and reducing inflammation within the body. It’s good for body composition, energy levels, sleep quality, mental attitude and quality of life. It helps eliminate sugar cravings and reestablishes a healthy relationship with food. It also works to minimize your risk for a whole host of lifestyle diseases and conditions, like diabetes, heart attack, stroke and autoimmune."
